Really, another person gets hurt?! The Spider-Man Broadway Theater production in New York has had many issues. Now Christopher Tierney fell 30 feet and was the 4th accident that has happened in the short time the production has been running. Get more details, with photos and videos of the fall below.
This musical is the most expensive production of all time and it definitely has some amazing special effects. However, this fact has caused them so many delays and now they are being investigated about their safety measures!
Previews of the show, that now has a delayed opening date of February 11, 2011, started in the end of November. Prior to those, the preparations for the Spider-Man Broadway theater was sort of a mess. They had several injuries then as well as not being prepared on many of the stunts. It became unclear as to whether or not the show would even happen.
Now after Christopher Tierney’s bad fall, the show is under heavy scrutiny.
“OSHA, Actors Equity and the New York State Department of Labor have met with the Spider-Man company today to discuss additional safety protocols. It was agreed that these measures would be enacted immediately.”
And believe it or not the show is continuing after the canceled matinee on Wednesday. As for the man who fell, he is in serious condition at a local hospital. The incident happened minutes before the end of the show. As you can see below, one of the ropes holding him up seems to snap and he plunged 30 feet into the orchestra pit.
I sure hope Christopher Tierney will be just fine, though I am not sure the musical will be. Even though it promises to be amazing (when everything is working fine) it just seems doomed. I sure wouldn’t want to work in it! What do you think about this being the 4th accident for the production? Should they close down the Spider-Man Broadway theater? After you see the video of his fall, leave me your comments below.
