Miley Cyrus: Controversial Video Sparks Salvia Ban

December 11, 2010

By now I’m sure you’ve seen the video of Miley Cyrus smoking salvia (allegedly) out of a bong. Even though the substance is currently legal to possess in California the incident has stirred up a heated debate – do state and federal governments need to push for an “outright ban”? Get the scoop below.

I expected this to happen from the moment I watched the now infamous ‘Miley Cyrus Bong Video’. In fact this is probably the chance that CA State Assemblyman Anthony Adams has been waiting for to push his failed bill from 2007 to outlaw the drug back into the spotlight.

According to Perez Hilton, Adams called the Disney starlet irresponsible for using the substance. Why? Because he claims it can cause a person to do “incredibly crazy things”. Also, he elaborated further by saying the starlet’s young fan base might “emulate her behavior”.

Parents across the globe are also concerned about Miley’s influence over their children. As you may recall this isn’t the ‘Party in the USA’ singers first scandal. Some are questioning (TMZ) if Cyrus is a L.I.T. – Lindsay in Training… What do you think?

Another concerned parent is her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. After seeing the video of his daughter partaking in the partakeables yesterday he voiced his concern via Twitter. He wrote, “I’m so sad”.

If Miley was indeed smoking Salvia is it a big deal – yes or no? Also, do you think she is a good influence for kids? Share your answers with us along with anything else that’s on your mind in the comment section.

In other news – Miley is set to star alongside Kelly Osbourne in the upcoming movie ‘So Undercover’. Find out more at Monsters & Critics.

    OMG i can’t believe this

    Factchecker Says:

    The first comment isn’t true.

    Salvia is non-habit forming.

I just think it depends on the person to get addicted to it or not. Some ppl probably will and some probably wont. It depends.just like i maybe addicted to something and you all may not be addicted to it. This is to all the comments above.

    drug liars everywhere Says:

The first comment is ludicrous. Salvia, is absolutely not habit forming. It was probably written by some loser at the DEA.

    Parents Says:

It’s funny parents are always like OMG shes such a bad role model my kids look up to her. If your kids are like 7…and they are on the internet watching Miley with a bong and KNOW what it is then they arent doing such an awesome job as parents. it’s called parental controls if you don’t want your kids to see it then dont let them!

Everyone knows you have to hold in salvia rips for more than 15/20 seconds for it to work. DUH, she isn’t smoking salvia. Just bud

    Adam Says:

Are you serious, this girl is high on weed, you don’t smoke something and have your eyes look like that, even salvia won’t close your eyes and make the eyelids bulge out. she was obviously smoking weed and judging by the way she took the bong hit it looks like it wasn’t her very first time.

people need to settle down, marijuana is not a bad drug, and putting so much faith into a pop star or any celebrity to have you kids grow up and be like, is a shame. children should idolize their parents, firemen, astronauts… people that make a difference in the world. not someone who is just another run of the mill filler for societies cravings for the new hottest thing, which is exactly what Miley used to be, which would also explain her behavior or using in this video..

the camera quality is too professional to be a regular phone video, which means the releasing of this was EXTREMELY intentional, she is fading and trying to reinvent herself..

I support Marijuana and I support whoever does it, but this is just a cry for help or a re-imaging from a fading little girl crying for career help…

    Not a Babysitter Says:

It would be ludicrous to say that Miley Cyrus or any other star doesn’t influence at least one kid. But these stars aren’t babysitters if you don’t want your kids to be seeing stuff like this then you should have a stricter control on them.

    Desiree Says:

I love Miley but I’m very dissapointed in her. I listen to her music and watch her show every now and then. But she is trying to grow up WAY too fast. Miley needs to stop and look at herself for a moment and ask herself, “Is this what’s best for my fans?” –And to all the people who hate her, think about it if she wasn’t a Disney star, she’d just be another celebrity. Since she was Disney first is why you hate her so much now…
