Meet Kristen Lee, Cliff Lee’s wife. While her husband Cliff becomes a free agent in Major League Baseball, there has been much speculation that the reason why Cliff may not sign on with the Yankees is due to the New York fans.
So what exactly happened to turn Kristen off from the Yankees ball club? It was during the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees game that Kristen experienced what she deemed to be highly offensive actions conducted by the Yankees fans. Not only did she get taunted, but she heard obscenities and witnessed beers being thrown at the Texas family section. In addition, there were fans who chose to spit down at them during the game. It was not exactly a pleasant experience for the former Cy Young winner’s wife.
Granted, Cliff is the one playing ball and would be the one choosing who he wants to play for, however I think it is safe to say that Kristen will have a big say in the final decision.
Kristen told the NY Daily News that “The fans did not do good things in my heart. When people are staring at you, and saying horrible things, it’s hard not to take it personal.”
I have a feeling money is going to do the talking here, but I can also bet you that the Yankees will have to work extra hard or bring on a hardcore paycheck if they want to add Cliff to their roster.
