Kate Norley, John Oliver’s girlfriend is getting set to marry her beau of two years sometime soon. While details of the wedding have not been yet disclosed, we are hearing that the wedding should be happening sometime soon. Kate is an Iraqi war veteran who served as a combat medic in Iraq and met her man back in 2008. It was at a 2008 Republican National Convention where the two met and from there on out it was a match made in heaven.

Norley was inspired to join the military after the terror attacks of September 11th and in order to make a difference and help out the situation she served as a medic who specialized in mental health, counseling soldiers who were suffering from the trauma of war.

Norley grew up in a well-to-do family and attended the Episcopal High School, a private school, in Arlington, Virginia.

About her challenging role in Iraq, she said that “It was an easy decision to take a tough job.” She added that she was there to help and wasn’t leaving until she could make a difference. She adds, “If they told me tomorrow I could go home … I wouldn’t be satisfied I’m finished with what I set out to do.”

At the Comedy Central Night of Too Many Stars event for autism, Oliver revealed that he popped the question to his lady love.

About Kate he joked, “It’s the most emasculating thing I could possibly do to go out with someone who has actually done something valuable with their life.”
