Gotti Movie in the Works!

September 25, 2010

A movie about the legendary Gambino mafia boss ‘Dapper Don’ is in the works according to his son John Gotti. Movies about the Gambino family have certainly been exhausted over the years, but this one will have the advantage of top-level insider knowledge! Get the full story, with photos and videos below!

A few actors have already shown interest in the project, including Sylvester Stallone and there are whispers of bringing in Ray Liotta due to his experience. The ‘Dapper Don’s son says he sold the movie rights because he wanted to tell their whole story with compete accuracy once and for all.

“During the past 20 years, there have been numerous made-for-television movies, books and other representations about me, my father and our family. None of these projects were done in cooperation with my family, and in most cases did not accurately reflect our lives,” he said in a rare interview. “It’s going to be filmed in New York, I’ve been working on it in New York, we can be an active player in the situation from start to finish. They were willing to hear my thoughts and they assured me the script would be absolutely accurate, the script would be fair.”

The Gotti movie will begin in 1990, the year of the ‘Dapper Don’s final arrest by the FBI, at a meeting where the Don’s son tells him he doesn’t want to be a part of the mob.

“It was the first time we’d had contact in seven years — the first time we’d touched each other in seven years,” he said. “And because it was a government-ordered meeting, all 90 minutes of it were captured on tape. Anyone sitting and watching that last video between a father and a son, there’s no way they can walk away with dry eyes.”

Everyone likes a good mafia picture, especially an authentic one! “Junior,” as he was known, has just finished his own jail sentence and has sold the movie rights to a small studio called Fiore in order to ensure that he has full influence during the production of the videos, but a modest budget of $15 Million may mean less action and more drama. Don’t worry though, there will be plenty of drama in store.

“The story’s about redemption. My father had a hard time accepting that I ultimately didn’t want to follow his path.”

What do you think of the be-all and end-all Gotti movie? Amazingly, the story didn’t end until just 2008, which gives it more relevance than the dated “Godfather” and “Goodfellas” movies. Do you think they should bring in Stallone or Liotta for the picture’s lead role? Let me know in the comment section! And don’t miss the photos and a video of the best Gambino movie so far below!
