Audrey Tautou is all set to play veteran fashion visionary Coco Chanel in a new biopic. French director Anne Fontaine recently said that she is working on a story about Chanel before she became famous.Fontaine also revealed that she want Tautou to play the role of the famous fashion designer Coco Chanel.

“I wanted to follow the interior path of this young woman who was poor, without education, but who had an uncommon personality that was ahead of her time,” Contactmusic quoted Fontaine, as saying.

Then we have a film based on the book ‘Coco & Igor’ (recommended if you want to immerse a little in fashion frippery – a light read), about the composer Igor Stravinsky and Coco Chanel’s very brief romance. Directed by William Friedkin (director of The Excorcist) the film will be played by Marina Hands, not someone I’ve heard of before but was apparently very good in Lady Chatterley.

Tautou shot to fame with her portrayal of the title character in the award-winning French film Amelie, and recently played Sophie Neveu in the 2006 controversial movie ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
