Kicking off the NFL season, Taylor Swift appeared in her traditional sparkly silver fashion alongside the Dave Matthews Band this past week. The award winning teen icon was an interesting choice for the opener, revealing the football organizers’ interest in expanding the sports demographic audience. The New Orleans Saints played host to the season opener, and their town brought its classic Mardi-Gras feel to the half time show. The highlight of the performance was no doubt the joint rendition of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House” featuring local dancers.

Finished kicking off the NFL season, Taylor Swift now has award season to look forward to. Playing part in the unforgettable Kanye West VMA faux-pas last year, this season will no doubt be a little unnerving for the 20-year-old. The controversial rapper, incase you missed it, interrupted the singer’s acceptance speech onstage, saying “Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time … of all time!”

In an attempt to make up for embarrassing himself and the singer at last year’s show, Kanye offered to write a song for her this year.

“It’s just another insult that this fool thinks she would sing a song he wrote,” a friend explained. “His ego is out of control. If anything, Kanye should be singing a song that Taylor wrote, not the other way around. As far as Taylor is concerned, he can take his song and shove it. Taylor writes her own sounds and has been very successful at it, why would she want to sing one of Kanye’s songs?” The source continued to say, “The last thing she wants to do is give him any more attention or make him any money.”

With opening the NFL season, Taylor Swift’s star is on the rise, and Kanye West’s is fizzling. The 20-year-old has been nominated once more this year for a new song off her 3rd album Speak Now. What did you think of her halftime performance? Are you a fan of the football league’s choice of musical entertainment for the opener? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section! Good thing Taylor Swift wasn’t around during the time of the MK Ultra experiments. Never mind static noise, make somebody listen to her for a few days and they’d go insane.
