Angelina Jolie Visits Pakistan Flood Zone (Video)

Angelina Jolie’s visit to the area of Pakistan still reeling from a massive flood may bring some much-needed attention to the matter. Get the story here, and see related photos and video below.

Donning a headscarf and a heart full of philanthropy, the actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador spent time with some of the victims displaced by the natural disaster that occurred back in July.

Pakistan is a country that she has spent considerable time in since being bestowed with the Ambassadorship back in 2001. This week’s visit marks the fourth time she has been in the country.

It is estimated that millions have been left homeless as a result of the flooding. A statement from Angelina Jolie read:

“People have lost everything: their homes, their belongings, their crops and cattle, and their livelihoods…Long after the cameras have gone, people will be struggling to rebuild their lives.”

Her attempts to bring international attention to the matter are a part of her work as United National High Commissioner for Refugees. She was last in the country following an earthquake roughly four years ago.

While in the country, Jolie also commented about a Gainesville church that plans to burn Qur’ans on the anniversary of the Sept 11th attacks this weekend:

“I have hardly the words that somebody would do that to somebody’s religious book…”

I have to agree with her. People like her give the world a real glimpse into the views of most Americans. Sadly, the extremists here at home are often the ones who get the most attention. This paints an ugly picture of the United States, and does nothing but foment terror.

Just as the terrorists are not representative of Islam as a whole, the fools hoping to burn Qur’ans do not represent Christians as a whole.
