The beauty contest took place in Mumbai on April 5th, 2008.

There are really three winners of this pageant. She joins Bollywood hotties Simran Kaur Mundi (Miss India Universe) and Harshita Saxena (Miss India Earth) as representatives from India in the various international beauty pageants in 2008. She is technically Miss India World.

And she almost won the title. Miss India finished a hot second place at the Miss World competition.

Sometimes misspelled Pavarthi, Omanakuttan was born in Kottayam but now lives in Mumbai. She is only 20 years old and stands 5′8″ tall. Her measurements are small on top, 32-27-36.

Parvathy Omanakuttan is an athletic model. Her hobbies include basketball and badminton, the sport left behind by the British colonialists. She also enjoys the arts such as music and dance, and creative hobbies like glass painting and reading. I wonder if she blows glass?

To continue her biography, she was formerly Miss Navy Queen 2006, and was crowned the first ever Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2008.

Indians love their beauty queens. Most of them end up as top Bollywood actresses including such famous celebrities as Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen.

Parvathy was asked about the rate of divorce in India, whether the reason for the rise was due to western cultural influences. Her answer won the judges vote:

“Divorces are not a result of western influence. At the end of the day, it is we who decide whose worth us. Marriage is not when one completes the other but is when both share their completeness.”

She also said that the nicest gift a woman can give a man is a child. That is sweet, but the nicest gift would be trying a lot.

Meet Bollywood actress Raima Sen. See her biography and photos.

Actress Raima Sen’s Bollywood roots run deep. Her grandmother is the legendary Bollywood actress Suchitra Sen, and her mother, Moon Moon Sen and sister Riya Sen are also in the Bollywood industry. But Raima says she won’t be competing with her glamorous sister.

“We both are doing quite different films. I will really have to buck up in order to compete with Riya who is very sexy and glamorous. She has breasts and hips truly measuring up to Bollywood standards.” Raima said in a recent interview.

Sen says she would like to be known as “a sexy Indian beauty,” and “will not mind shedding clothes for success of a film.”

27-year-old Raima Sen was born on November 11, 1979. As noted, Sen grew up in the Bollywood industry. Her father, Bharat Dev Varma , is a descendant of the royal family of Tripura state.

After a few minor film roles, Raima’s breakthrough came in a starring role as Ashalata in the film Chokher Bali.

Raima is often compared to her grandmother, legendary Bollywood actress Suchitra Sen.

Bollywood film actress and British Celebrity Big Brother winner, Shilpa Shetty is denying reports that she was arrested at India immigration last week. The actress is in Berlin to promote her new musical “Miss Bollywood.”

“You know I’m sometimes quite amused by the press because I was not arrested, and I went on the net and people were calling me and they were asking me if I was okay, and I was like, what’s happened, I’ve just come to Berlin, I’ve just landed here, and they were like, we heard you got arrested.

Shetty was detained and questioned regarding her much publicized kiss with Richard Gere at an AIDS awareness event in India (see video below), which landed both she and Gere in hot water among conservative Hindus, who claim the two violated anti-obscenity laws when Gere embraced Shetty and kissed her on the cheek.

For such a young actress, she sleeps around in many beds. Recently Deepika has gone from bedding Nihar Pandey to Ranbir Kapoor and back again, just as if she was returning from a strut down the catwalk.

Vogue India debuted its October issue today (more photos below), featuring Bipasha Basu, Gemma Ward, Priyanka Chopra, MoniKangana Dutta, Preity Zinta and Laxmi Menon. The issue was styled by British Vogue’s Lucinda Chambers and the beautiful photos shot by Patrick Demarchelier, one of the world’s leading fashion photographers.

Priya Tanna, the editor of Vogue India, spoke of the launch:

“Vogue’s launch in India symbolizes India’s arrival on to the global fashion scene. India is ready for a magazine that is intelligent, sophisticated, and understands the stylish, modern woman.”

All of the models wear clothes from top designers – Bipasha Basu wears Roberto Cavalli, Gemma Ward wears Valentino, Priyanka Chopra wears Giorgio Armani, Laxmi Menon wears Chanel, Preity Zinta wears Christian Dior, and Monikangana Dutta wears Gucci for the photoshoot. The magazine is priced at 100 rupees ($2.50) and will feature Indian and international fashion, global cultures, travel and health, and other issues. Tanna said, “The idea is to mix eye candy with mind candy.”

Meet Poonam Jhawar, the Bollywood actress who is posing for Playboy as a centerfold girl. See her photos, biography, and her new music video here. Her name is sometimes written “Poonam Jhawer.”

She will be the first actress from Bollywood to ever pose in Playboy magazine’s centerfold assuming that it really happens. Sources say that she is in the middle of negotiations but neither side will confirm the report except to say that an Indian actress will soon be featured in the magazine. As you can see in the picture, the Indian term for the negotiations is “stacked.” Continue your education below about this Bollywood playmate.

Poonam Jhawar is a singer, model and an actress. Poonam, who is called Poo by her friends, was born on August 14th in Mumbai, India. Her mother is a poet and her family is from the “business class” in a country that cares for rank.

She is also now a producer, working on cinematic films like “Aanch” along with B.L.Saboo. “Aanch” stars Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Ayesha Jhulka, and others. She played the role of Priya Agnihotri in that Bollywood film while co-producing it.

She has also entered the music realm with her debut single “Take Me Home Baby” from the album Pooh Kya Jalwa Hai.

Ali Larter stars in the recent Bollywood inspired movie, Marigold. Ali plays Marigold Lexton, an American actress who becomes submersed in the Bollywood film world. The film was shot in India where Ali lived for a month. It was her first time experiencing India, just like her character Marigold, which she says helped her related to her character and create a magical experience for her. Ali told People Magazine that she had only three days to learn all of her Bollywood moves and marks and it presented many challenges for her.

The Brangelina of Bollywood, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan held a press conference in Toronto today to announce the “Unforgettable Tour”, which will celebrate the world of Bollywood cinema. The tour will begin in Toronto.

“If all goes well, and God willing, we will premiere the Unforgettable Tour in the city of Toronto because we feel that it is the best city to premiere the tour in.”

Abhishek Bachchan noted that Toronto has a large fan base for Bollywood films. This is the same city that Abhishek and his wife, Aishwarya, premiered their film “Guru” back in January. It was the first time that a Bollywood movie premiered outside of India.

The “Unforgettable Tour” will be traveling to 18 countries around the world including Vancouver, New York, Los Angeles, London, and Hong Kong, just to name a few. The tour will begin next summer. Other Bollywood stars set to perform during the musical extravaganza include Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu, and Ritesh Deshmukh.
